TEAM GINA x2 (Live on KEXP 2/16 & War Room 2/17)

It was a Team Gina-packed weekend for me as I got to watch them perform live on KEXP (Saturday, 2/16/08) and catch their show at The War Room the very next night (Sunday, 2/17/08).

On KEXP, the ladies were lively and entertaining during their performance and interview with KEXP’s Hannah Levin. Despite the fact that they were on the radio, the pair couldn’t help but dance as they sang. One of their fantastic new songs was exclusively debuted which they refer to as “Starz” (title might be subject to change). They also did some promos for KEXP and had me cracking up ‘cause these ladies have a killer sense of humor. At The War Room, HotMess threw a queer disco bash benefit to help fund Team Gina’s follow up to their 2007 album Gina Gina Revolution (buy it here). Host D$ and DJs Bmore Blunt, Status Apparatus, Colby B, and L.A. Kendall kicked off the queer disco party providing their mixes on some oldies but goodies and songs from the present time for the people to get their groove on. Believe it or not, there were some people who actually roller-skated around the dance floor!

Later in the evening, Team Gina took the stage to perform a few songs including two new ones: “Starz” and the other I can’t remember the title but it’s about “boobies” if I remember correctly, hehe. In keeping with the disco theme, they also flawlessly did the Tony Manero (John Travolta) dance moves from Saturday Night Fever! It was such a queertastic weekend and I had a ton of fun! My only regret is not getting some lip action at Team Gina’s kissing booth…
