2363880393_5222cc21d2_o.jpg Earlier this week Seattle booker Jenny Bendel announced that she has ended her co-booking duties at Capitol Hill’s newest rock club, King Cobra, citing “philosophical differences.” About this, she cares not to speak.

“Philosophical differences (are) fine,” she wrote in an email to Sound. “The bands should be getting the press; not reasons why bookers change jobs.”

Fair enough. But clubs should be getting press as well, since it seems this town has to prove that its music scene is not dying. So, here’s some news: Bendel has recently undertaken booking duties at Slim’s Last Chance in Georgetown. She will join pinball games, a fit Jukebox and former Crocodile Cafe sound engineer Jim Anderson at the cozy saloon. Bendel also had some news about the space.

“We’re building a covered deck and outside stage that will allow us to have shows of 400 capacity or so. So
much fun in the summer,” she wrote, adding “:)”

Slim’s–which is named after Slim McCarroll, the local musician who helped build the bar before passing away last September–has been hosting shows in its 200-capacity space since January, creating some rock relief in the neighborhood’s gritty, artist community. Emboldened by the increase in capacity, though, the venue could turn the corner and become a major player in the city’s live music market. Time will tell.

Focusing on the booker Bendel for a moment, though, it’s important to point out that she is working in concert with Seattle power-booker Kwab Copeland under the moniker “Entertainment Facilitator.” Though that is likely boring news for any typical music fans, it is exciting (and important) for the scene.

“I’m super excited about my new partnership with Kwab Copeland!” she wrote. “With our little network of booking the
High Dive, Slim’s Last Chance, Jules Mae and Sunday Bloody Sunset, we’re going to have a blast.”

Bendel’s first show at Slim’s will be April 5 when Mulkiteo’s inimitable All-American Playboys.
