use.jpgWhile this weekend’s MusicfestNW in Portland will surely be a festive affair, it has just come to Sound’s attention that it will be slightly less festive. Seattle’s eletronic party rock explosion, United State of Electronic, announced today that it has canceled its Friday night appearance at Holocene, where the band was set to headline the Sound Magazine showcase. Sayeth the band, via MySpace:

We are sorry to inform you all, but we just cancelled our Sept 5 show in Portland, due to a very recent death in the family.  We will definitely come back and make it up.  Meanwhile, back to the studio!

Our thoughts are with the band at this time, but our eyes are still looking forward to this weekend’s festivities. While a replacement has yet to be announced, the current lineup is still undeniably fantastic. Check it out:
