SHOWS

The Next Door Neighbors, The Coyotes at Easy Street (West Seattle)
Friday, December 12 at 9:30pm

Easy Street says:

Duck in from the chilly December weather and get toasty with Next Door Neighbors and The Coyotes at our West Seattle store! This is an all-ages show.

Formed in Olympia, the Next Door Neighbors are a two-girl, two-keyboard/synth “folktronic” experience that will warm you up quite nicely. They made it all the way to the final round of EMPs 2008 Sound Off, where they gained many fans - and, look ma, no enemies! Joining them are The Coyotes, an intriguing blend of bedroom folk, “no wave,” and Jimmy Webb pop. Watch out for these guys - their vibe, songs, and skills are quite exceptional.

Gabriel Mintz at the Blue Moon
Saturday, December 13 at 10pm

Don’t know who Gabriel Mintz is? Neither did we until our editor stumbled upon him in a SoDo sportsbar. (Read all about it- and listen to a couple tracks from Mintz- in NW Discovery: Gabriel Mintz.)

Joshua Morrison at Easy Street (Queen Anne)
Tuesday, December 16 at 6pm

Easy Street says:

We’re honored to welcome “soldier/songwriter” Joshua Morrison to our Queen Anne store on 12/16. This is one of his last shows before he redeploys back to Iraq in January. KEXP DJ John Richards calls Morrison “one of the best singer/songwriters this area has seen since Elliott Smith made his home in Portland.”

DOWNLOADS

Portland’s Bladen County Records has assembled a very nice, very free winter compilation album. It’s titled A Movable Feast and features tracks from The Love Language, Oh Captain My Captain, Autopilot, and more. Those in Portland can grab themselves a physical copy tonight (Thursday) at Holocene, which is hosting Bladen County Records’ showcase ($5, 8pm, 21+).

Badman Recording Co. of Portland also has a free compilation available for download from Amazon. Badman, Has It Really Been Ten Years is, as the name would indicate, a tenth-anniversary celebratory compilation. It features tracks new and old from the label’s catalog, including songs by My Morning Jacket, Mark Kozelek, and Starfucker, among others.
